Join M Power for our first 2019 weekly workshop session!

Each week the girls will be presented with a new topic to explore and discuss pertaining to their overall health and well being. Dynamic group activities, in depth group discussions and various other program delivery methods will be used to ensure that girls are prepared for the challenges of growing up. Girls will be provided with many effective strategies to help them cope with stress and other areas of concern.

Hours: 6:00- 8:00pm

Dates: (Wednesdays) February 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, March 6th and 20th, and March 27th 2019

Note: There is no program on Wednesday March 13th due to March Break.

Location: Cultural Centre Studio - Downstairs in Halton Hills Library (Georgetown branch)

Cost: $180

$340 for both sessions

Love Myself Workshop with Warrior Wellness

Our greatest gift we can give ourselves is the gift of understanding and love. Nobody is perfect. Everyone experiences stress. Everyone makes mistakes. It`s our mindset when dealing with setbacks and challenges that can affect our happiness and success.

This workshop will introduce girls to yoga, meditation and self-love practices.

We will learn strategies to manage stress and always love ourselves first.

We will also be creating some meaningful pieces to help us with the process of acceptance. We will be exploring the art of making Mala beads, mantra posters for positive reinforcement, practicing some meditation techniques and learning yoga!

$45.00 includes tax.

Parent and Child Art Luncheon

Share a meal with your child followed by a parent and child special drawing and art workshop with Eva Omes.

Sharing a meal together is always a wonderful time to have conversation and re-connect. After a delicious meal provided by La Vita Fine Foods, share in the creative process together. Eva will walk families through the process of creating beautiful artwork and art fundamentals.

Participants are encouraged to draw what they love and what inspires them. If you are a more seasoned artist, please bring any pieces you are working on or anything that may inspire you.

The Love Yourself Workshop was such a hit that our parents are now asking for a workshop all their own!

Kristin Heywood of Warrior Wellness and Shannon of M Power will be coming together to offer this unique workshop for all of our mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts , uncles, or any other adult you know who could use some help learning strategies to cope with stress.

We will try out some meditation, learn all about mindfulness and how it applies each and every day. We will participate in making bracelets that incorporate essential oils and lava beads to assist when stressed. This workshop will involve group discussions and draw on peer support to assist in understanding the important of self-care.

Healthy Foods Workshop

This workshop focuses on making healthy food choices at home, on the go and while enjoying a meal at your favourite restaurant. Eating balanced is important and being armed with the power of knowledge is the first step!

This workshop will introduce the topics Healthy Eating on the Go and Facts About Fats. This is going to be an interactive 4 hours workshop where girls will spend 2 hours in the kitchen making homemade healthy (and delicious!) chili, cinnamon chips and strawberry salsa.

After enjoying our food we will partake in a 2 hour hands on workshop where we will explore all of the healthy options available to us when we go out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will answer questions like "what is in that Starbucks latte?” and how to choose menu items that are nutritious.

$45.00 includes all materials, instruction and the 2 hour private food prep and cooking class in addition to the workshop.

Mothers Day Bee House Project

Join us on the day before Mothers Day for this incredible hands on workshop. Lisa Haller, local contractor extraordinaire, will be showing us how to construct bee houses out of wood and other natural materials. Girls will learn how to use basic tools in a safe and effective way to create a bee house.

We will be discussing bee populations and their impact on the environment and how bee houses are an environmentally responsible choice.

Girls will also be introduced to bee friendly flowers and the chance to bring some home to use in conjunction with their bee houses!!

We will be getting creative with all varieties of chocolate. Chocolate Tales will be joining the M Power girls for a night of creativity using a very unique medium- chocolate!!

In this creative workshop, we will be:

-learning about the history of chocolate

-designing and decorating our own truffle boxes

-Making chocolate lollipops and tie dyed/swirled marshmallow lollipops

-Making truffles to put into our hand made truffle boxes

-Explore chocolate molding techniques

-Finish with a very special chocolate art project!!!

Identifying what stress feels like can be tricky sometimes, and methods to manage it can be unique to the individual. We will explore all kinds of coping mechanisms and how to implement them on a regular basis.

We will include some meditation practice, a craft, and lots of good group discussions.

This session is taught by Shannon , who is a safeTALK trainer, ASIST trained, and a Road to Mental Readiness instructor.

M Power is bringing our girls the gift of healthy beautiful skin and hair. 
Join professional makeup artist and skin care professional, Caroline of Creatively Beautiful Salon in Norval, who will be teaching girls how to apply simple makeup that is age appropriate and skin friendly for our young faces. 

Girls will have an opportunity to apply techniques taught during the workshop. Topics to be covered: 

-Product knowledge - what products are meant to do and how are they applied
-Skincare- daily washing, moisturizing and sunscreen routines
-Makeup accessories and hygiene 
-Makeup application for youth (fast, simple and appropriate!)
-Haircare- washing frequency, effects of colouring, and damage prevention.

We are so excited to bring you a President’s Choice Cooking School and M Power collaboration for our M Power Healthy Food Workshop!

Conclude the holiday break with some time with the M Power girls learning all about how to make healthy food choices while juggling a busy schedule, learning to identify healthy food options and unhealthy food options, discuss concerns surrounding fad diets, and learning how to properly read food labels.

$45.00 includes all materials and instruction for the 4 hour workshop.

This 4 hour workshop will include a 2 hour session where we will:

  • Discuss nutrition basics, how to ensure a balanced diet when you are on the run, characteristics of healthy foods, product marketing traps and food label education.

  • Engage in a variety of games and activities utilizing the on site grocery store (Real Canadian Superstore) to provide a fun and hands on learning opportunity.

  • A 2 hour private food prep and cooking class with a professional.

Holiday M Power Drawing Workshop with Eva Omes

Come and enjoy the holiday break with us at M Power!

We are gathering in the beautiful Devereaux House to embark in a creative workshop to help our girls express their inner selves as a step in the journey of self-discovery.

Local artist Eva Omes will be introducing girls to the art of sketching and the concept of artistic freedom. Eva is a firm believer that there is no perfect way to “do art” and “mistakes are when beautiful things happen”. Eva will be there to guide girls through a project of their choice and will assist girls with some drawing and sketching fundamentals.

We ask that girls come prepared with a favourite subject to draw, pictures that inspire them or an idea of something that they would like to learn to draw. Our girls who are experienced artists should come with an open mind and an idea as to how they wish to challenge themselves.

Ages: 7+

This one will be our “Holiday Edition” so we will keep it casual at the cozy Red Harp Pub in Acton. We have reserved the private back room at the restaurant so we can have a space to ourselves.

Girls will spend the day with other girls partaking in activities to help build their resilience to stress, learn effective communication skills, build their confidence and learn some new things about nutrition and health. 
There will be a lot of engaging group work and art projects to tap into the inner girl and help in the journey of self-discovery through artistic expression. 
Peer mentorship will play a key role in learning how to relate to one another and problem solve together as a group. 

Cost is $45.00 per girl and includes all materials.
